En 1974, [[Bob Weir]] un long ami de temps de Matthew Kelly, a rejoint le groupe bande. La composition du groupe se modifie avec Matthew Kelly et le Dave Torbert comme pilier. Dave Torbert est mort en 1983, Kingfish continuait ses tournée de temps en temps avec une évolution de sa composition mais toujours mené par Matthew Kelly. En 1987, Matthew Kelly a sorti un album solo appelé "[[A Wing and a Prayer]]". En 1999, Kingfish a sorti album studio, "[[Sundown on the Forest]]", enregistrée pendant sur plusieurs années avec combinaisons différentes de musiciens.
